Art, Aristocats and Altos….

The last 7 days has been days of busyness!  Friday Keilee went to a lock in with Maddie Grace where she slept NONE.  Sunday night her best friend from K-5th grade spent the night with her.  Keilee and Lyvvy are reconnecting after a couple of years of not talking.  It was so awesome to hear them talking and laughing all night.  Monday night Sophie spent the night with her and we went to Pt. Mallard on Tuesday.

Instagram fun with Lyv and Sophie.

Keilee auditioned for Aristocats and got the role she wanted; the Duchess!  She is so excited to be back with her College Street Players doing a play.  Some of her best friends in the entire world are in the cast and she is geeked!

The is the first play she has ever been in that she was an ‘older kid’.  There are already several little girls who are enamored with her.  It is so sweet.

Keilee continues to do A LOT of Art Journaling.  She loves quotes just like her Mama does. 🙂  I LOVE her fox!

2013 JUNE6

It has been beautiful and I took Kei outside for pictures.  She is at the age where she thinks every picture of her is ‘horrible’.  Why do girls do this?  Why do girls have such a negative image of themselves?  I wonder if it is things I have done or said.  I have always told her she was beautiful and wonderful so I am not sure if it is just an ‘age’ thing or what.  I always thought we would avoid that because we homeschooled but no such luck.

2013 JUNE9

I read a survey once that says teenage girls think they look worse than they do and teenage boys think they look better.  It is definitely a strange age and just because we homeschool doesn’t mean we don’t face some of the same issues.

1.  Pt. Mallard Fun in the waves
2. Art Journaling on the floor!
3.  Voice lessons with her lovely teacher
4.  Kitty Kat love

This weeks theme on “7 Cool Homeschoolers” was What is on your iDevice.  Check out some of her favorite apps below.

This next week is going to be insane for us.  Keilee is looking so forward to it and I am dreading it.  It is strange how the same events can cause different responses.  Keilee is teaching at an Art/Drama/Music/Dance Camp and I am helping from 9-2 each day. Then Keilee is taking an After Hours Theater Camp from 3-6.  Then we have practice from 6:30-8:30.  Whew!

Stay cool everyone.  Summer is in full force here in Alabama, I don’t care what the calendar says!

  1. Oh, boy, are we ever having that same thing going on at our house. Davan thinks all of her pictures are horrible. It’s a sad thing. Both our girls are lovely and it would be great if they just owned it!

I’m catching up after a few weeks of pretty much not computer time. It’s great to read about everything you’re up it. How exciting about the internship possibilities!

  2. Oh I remember my teenage days, boy were they bad. I still have a ways before that with mine, Julie just turned 6 and Kelli is 3 and a half. I guess people are wrong when they say homeschooled teens don’t get to be real teens. 🙂 But the rest of week looked fun. Congrats on getting in the play. Julie is in her first play this summer, A Year with Frog and Toad Kids. She is a squirrel who has 3 communal lines and 1 single line. :”Hi Frog” She is so excited.

  3. I know EXACTLY what you mean about the self-image issues! I have to tell you the thing I find most beautiful about Keilee – and she’s a beautiful girl by ANY standards!! – is her love of life and her passion. Seeing the photos of her acting just give you a window into what it looks like to do what you love. She makes me want to try harder to do things I’m passionate about. And that is the most beautiful thing. I am in awe of what you have accomplished as her mom and how you’ve encouraged her 🙂

  4. Oh my…a busy week ahead. Prayers for you! This mama knows hot + tired = cranky (well at least at my house anyway:) I know Kei will have a blast though:) Congratulations on her part in the Aristocats!

Love the art journaling! The fox is amazing, and so are the pictures of Keilee. I hope she knows that she is beautiful inside and out and that no photo will ever be able to fully capture that. Blessings!!

  5. Keilee’s photos are absolutely breathtaking! I hope she can learn to see what we all see! She is really quite a beauty, on the inside and out. 🙂

I love the art journaling. Keilee is talented at so many things.

It sounds like your week is going to be insane, but I’m sure it will be fun. Can’t wait to hear/read all about it in your next wrap-up post!

Hope you have had a great weekend!

  6. Your next week is the kind I have to mentally gear up for. I have not had one in a while and I am a bit out of practice! I love that Kei and Liv have reconnected. That must have taken a bit of courage on both their parts. These are the posts when I wish we lived close so you could tell me all this while we sipped ice tea of a cup of coffee. Until that happens, I am so glad we have our blogs!

  7. Oh, Keilee always looks so beautiful in all her pictures! They are such fun to see each week too.
Another play for her as well. I can’t wait to hear about Aristocats now. It is such fun to hear about her practices and see pictures / video from her performances. If only we could see them in person too.

Summer hear seems to have forgotten that Missouri is hot and humid. We aren’t complaining, at all. After last summer, I could care less if we never get above 85. The weather is slowly figuring out though that Missourians understand heat. At least we’ve had a reprieve for a little while.

Good luck with the busy week!

  8. Interesting comment about the teen years and issues we don’t necessarily avoid just because we are homeschooling. Just the other day my Miss 18 told Miss 12 that the years 12 to 17 were the worst years of your life. At least Miss 18 is over it now and Miss 12 isn’t there yet. Fingers crossed she’ll avoid the worst of the teenage lackmof self-confidence etc but who knows. Good luck with the coming week. I’m tired just thinking about it!

  9. Sounds like a great week! I wish we lived closer and our girls could hang out and have sleepovers!

Allie is going through a similar phase-if you notice often the photos of her are of her with her face behind a book because that is the only ways she will let me photograph her sometimes. Drives me nuts. She is VERY self-conscious and despises her braces–which meakes me pray that she doesn’t need this surgery because it would mean approximately 5 years of braces. last time we saw the ortho he said we would be good without surgery–hope he is right!
