I honestly can’t remember much we have done the last few days. A lot of home time after busy weeks. Visiting Patsy at rehab after her surgery. She was my Mom’s best friend and she said my Mother ‘gave’ Keilee and I to her. Playing board games and World of Warcraft. We are almost level 90 on WOW which means nothing to most of you probably. 🙂
We spent a couple of days at the pool. They have a beach there too and Keilee played in the sand a bit. And she created a chalk masterpiece on our driveway. See that one white square?? It’s where Seth pressure washed it. I can not believe the difference. Keilee got that T-Shirt as a yard sale for .25. It says, “Will teach Science for Food”. 🙂
Silly pictures are my favorite.
In other HUGE news this past week I let Keilee drive in the alley. I told her for years I would teach her to drive when she was 12. When she turned 12 she was MUCH too young. So I told her 13. When she turned 13 she was MUCH too young. So I told her 14. When she turned 14 she was MUCH too young but….I finally, at 14 1/2 let her drive. It scared me to death. She did awesome though although 7 MPH is the fastest she went. I can not believe she is almost old enough to drive. It seems like she was just driving her pink Barbie car around the driveway!!!
In the hugest news of all we are taking Augustus to an Wildlife Rehabilatator on Wednesday. It is killing both of us. This has been an amazing experience for Keilee. And for me. He is the sweetest thing. I know there is going to be tears, mostly mine!! I am the crier of the two of us.
Keilee has all her curriculum ready for the year and most of her school supplies. Thanks to some amazing people who blessed us I am not as worried about how to find the money for the school things she needs.
Another summer week gone. Is it just me or has this summer flown by??

Can’t believe I missed this post. For some reason my RSS feed dropped my subscription to some of favourite blogs and this was one. Think I’ve got the problem fixed. Good luck with the driving lessons. I hated teaching mine to drive . Terrifying doesn’t even come close to describing it! Sadly dh has a medical condition which means he isn’t allowed to drive otherwise I would have made him do it. I’ve had someone on a learners permit for about seven years but thankfully the older three are all on restricted or full licenses now, meaning I get a break until Miss 13 turns 16. Although by then Miss 19 will have been on her full license for over two year and will legally be able to teach her sister. Hope handing over Augustus to the wildlife rehabilitator went well. I’m sure you’ll both miss him.
I know it will be hard to let Augustus go, but I’m sure he’ll be in good hands!
I am SO not ready to think about driving. Fortunately, my 14-year-old hasn’t even asked. My 12-year-old has been pestering me about it for a while, though!
I do hope you are not missing Augustus too much, I feel for you both having to let him go when you probably saved his little life. That said, if this is the type of work Keilee wants to go into when she graduates maybe this will prove to be a helpful life experience for her.
I can’t believe she is driving!! My eldest is only slightly younger and I’m definitely not ready to have him drive yet!
Was today the day? Oh, I hope it went ok and Augustus is ok, too.
So funny…the other day, I had Allie in the car and I was SO tempted to find a quiet spot and let her take the wheel for a few minutes! She keeps teasing us about driving and telling us how many more days til she gets her license and how she will run to the store for me. Part of me is excited for her and part of me wants to keep her little!!!!
Oh my! Driving?! I can’t think about it. We haven’t gone there yet, but I know I was driving with my dad when I was 14. I’m just not ready:(
Ahhh, summer fun! Yes the summer is half over and I feel like it hasn’t even really started yet! I’m sure it will be sad to see Augustus go, but it might be a bit of a relief too! Thank God for kind friends who help in times of need! What a blessing they are! I don’t even want to think about next school year yet! I hope the rest of your summer is just as blessed as the first half was!
It would be hard for me to let the little guy go, too. But he wouldn’t be around at all if Keilee hadn’t taken such wonderful care of him.
And she has grown up, too. Time just flying by!!
The driving thing… arghhh… it kills me. We’re finally going to work on Lyssa getting a license, she has had some delays and we waited on purpose. Now she (and we) think she’s ready.
I will worry the whole time, of course. Because that’s what I do.
I love that you shared the experience with Augustus with us. Such an amazing experience for you both. I am so glad we got to meet him and I know how hard tomorrow will be for the three of you! We will be thinking of you and giving you (((Hugs))) from across the miles.
You are brave! My oldest son is 15 1/2 and I haven’t brought him out in the van yet. I’m relieved that he hasn’t mentioned it yet. LOL Funny as I had my license at his age AND my own car…
Summer is mostly over for us already! It was time to get back to school because of some goals we have later in the year. Augustus has grown so much! You all did a great job with him.
Blessings, Dawn
She looks so much older in those top photos!! It looks like you are having a great summer. I know it is hard to let Augustus go. She will be 16 and driving before you know it.
Looks like a lot of fun at beach. Silly pictures are so much fun and great reminders of their personality. Aww, cute Augustus. I’m sad to see him go too, but I’m sure that’s best for him. Have a great week and I can’t wait to hear what Keilee has picked out for school!
