It’s been awhile.
I almost just stopped blogging but Keilee ( and Ami ;)) really didn’t want me to do that. So Keilee and Ami this is for you.
December is always a crazy month around here. To be honest mostly for Keilee because she always has things going on. She creates, I buy. [Very little this year] I wish I could create like she does but I just can’t. Our Christmas is going to be VERY small this year. Most of our family gifts Keilee is making. I try to help where I can, cutting Tshirts and rolling yarn but there is so little I can do. I feel so guilty that she is making all these things and I can’t help more. December marks 1 year since I have been laid off from my job with Stan. I am so thankful for my little part time job even though I make such a little bit of money it is a blessing to us at this time in our lives. Keilee and I were talking about how amazing it is that God always provides for us. ALWAYS. I have to work from home so there was a job that I could do that with. I need a certain amount of money each month and it has always been provided. Every single month for 12 months. I don’t know why I should be so amazed because God promises to trust and he will provide. But it still DOES amaze me.
Keilee was very stressed out about a couple of weeks ago and she rarely gets stressed. She had 9 orders from her IG shop and 7 gifts she was making including 2 really large projects so I told her we could take December off from school. We are still doing Southern Lit and The History of the World in 100 Objects because I can read or we can listen to those. Keilee is very good about multitasking. Me, not so much.
She has made Elsa hats, Elf hats, a hat for Nomad, Anna hats, a rug for my brother, boot cuffs, gifts for me, Abominable Snowman hats, a hanging light for her room and more. Here are a few of her goodies.
I love that we can do this; take a few weeks off and not get ‘behind’. I think running your own business is a pretty cool thing to do for a 14 year old.
January and February will be cold and gray and there will be plenty of time to catch up on everything. That’s one of the reasons I so adore homeschooling.
Here are a few pictures of the last couple of weeks.
Skate Day, Keilee reading one of our Christmas picture books, Keilee taking practice tests for her PERMIT!!!, playing “Don’t Break the Ice”, Keilee and the Grinch and fun with a magnifying glass,
So that’s basically a bit of what we have been up to. Well a small snippet since I haven’t posted in so long. Maybe I will post again before NEXT year!
Happy December all,
Homeschooling Rocks!

“How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?” ~Dr. Seuss
Hello!! (Imagine me jumping up and down with excitement and waving madly).
I’m sooo pleased you are back, I love hearing all about your lives, even though you live so far away, I just know we would be friends in real life!
I hope you both have had a wonderful Christmas!
Oh, I totally understand! I had been trying to blog 4-5 times a week. December? Not so much! I have 3 done! LOL Between being sick and then a cold going through the house, creating Christmas gifts – a very small Christmas here too – winter prep, the house, kids, the BF, the animals…I haven’t had much time to blog or even read blogs. Or read, period. Perhaps next month for me? January – March are cold, snowy, dark.
@ Kajtryna: Hey. I friend requested you (I hope) on Facebook.
I’m so happy you came back to blogging. My 13 year old girl loves to see what Keilee is up to. We have found so many great ideas from your site. Do you have a way that I can send a message that is not on a comment thread? I feel like we have a lot in common and would love a chance to talk. I can be found on FB under Kajtryna Hanson.
All of Keilee’s accomplishments are amazing! Imagine all the opportunities and experiences she would have missed out on if she were not a home/unschooler! I do hope the stress eases up on her soon, though. I think you made a very wise decision in giving her the month off! Homeschooling Rocks!!! LOL!!
#1… glad you’re still blogging.
#2… behind what? Homeschooling has nothing to do with public school and their artificially imposed timetable that’s based more on record keeping than what’s best for kids.
#3… carry on.
Kei makes the most beautiful things! I hope you don’t mind if I look at them and feel partially responsible for getting her started knitting. 🙂
Sometimes we need a break and then when we are ready, we go back to our blogs. Instagram is wonderful but the advantage of blogging is you can see everything together in context. I love her creations and her dedication to providing her customers with great service. I just wish we were closer (if only we had $1 for every time you or I have said that….) so our super creative girls could create together and you and I, could enjoy our non-multitasking personalities and share a cup of tea.
It’s lovely to see you back. I’ve missed your posts popping up in my reader and then when I went to check your blog it seemed to be down. Tonight several older posts were in my feeder as well as this one. It’s been good to catch up on all you’ve been doing. Great plan to take December off – the books will be there when things are calmer. I smiled at the photo of Keilee reading a Christmas picture book. My girls both love to read our collection every year.
I love catching up with you. I hope you keep blogging. Your daughter is learning some incredible skills. Gotta Love Homeschooling.
Blessings, Dawn
How in the world do you expect us to keep up with Kei’s brilliant creativity if you don’t blog??? Please don’t stop. Your raising of Keillee is an absolute inspiration and brings a smile to my face every time you post something about the two of you.
Hi, ya, guys. I am sorry that you are feeling so stressed and guilty. I think that Kei is fine. She loves being creative and even if she got a little behind and stressed, I am sure she will get through it and be fine. Remember the small, simple joys and have the peace of His presence.
