We do Math and Science and History and Writing and Grammar but every spare minute Keilee has she spends creating things in one medium or another. This week has been such an amazing week. Co-op is going great, Gymnastics is going great, play practice is going great. But it is our time at home that I have loved this week.
The weather was so nice the first of the week. Keilee played outside and built a Water System. I love that she still plays in the dirt. Manicure and all.
She also played Frisbee with Nomad. I hate that we can’t let him just roam the yard but we don’t have a fence and he is not good at staying where he should!
We did 3 Algebra lessons that were pretty painless. We read History. She did 2 Grammar lessons, she wrote in her new blog, we did Mapping the World With Art, she is making an Animal notebook full of different animals she really likes and their behavior. She is doing it in Notebook Publisher. I won a free LIFETIME Membership last year and it is awesome. We found a new book that I bought on Kindle and am reading aloud to her. It is called, “Love, Life and Elephants: An African Love Story” I actually found it on Christie Brinkley’s Instagram account. She recently went to Africa to aid in saving the elephants and she mentioned the book. Africa is where Keilee wants to go when she is a Wildlife Rehabilatator. She tells me I will go with her. I just smile.
We painted pumpkins twice this week. Once she and I did it outside and Wednesday a friend came over and he and Keilee painted small pumpkins. I love the way they turned out!
One of the things that Keilee is SO into is her Smash Journal. She works on this hours each day. Keilee has always said, “I can’t draw, I am not artistic” which is hysterical to me. She is one of the most artistic people I have ever seen. I think she is finally beginning to believe it.
Here are her pumpkins. Aren’t they adorable??
We have plans this weekend and the weather is just perfect. It is finally Fall here in Alabama. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend full of love and beauty and smiles!

The weather is still warm enoug to go barefoot? So lucky…
Love that you both are enjoying fall so much! The painted pumpkins are great:)
We are sooo doing smash books this winter when we are shut indoors…I can’t wait!
Such beautiful inspiration:)
I loved the picture of Keilee and Nomad playing frisbee on Instagram. The connection they have is so similar to the one Grace has with Jake. I don’t know what they would do without each other! What a beautiful week filled with art and love and happiness and learning. Just the way it should be. It has been a fantastic fall, hasn’t it??!!
Keilee is definitely multi -talented, artistic, and creative! I have no doubt in my mind that she will be a wildlife rehabilitator in Africa some day, where she will get her hands dirty while very creatively rehabilitating animals!
You have such a talented, highly motivated daughter! I wish my oldest could spend an afternoon with her! Terrific week!
Wonderful pumpkins. The smash journal looks great too. Wishing you both another wonderful week filled with lots of creativity!
You had me at dirt play . . . . . I saw Keilee’s pumpkins on instagram – they are really cute! Y’all have a great week
Your posts always make me smile, Karen! I just love how creative your daughter is! Her smash journal looks amazing, as do her pumpkins. 🙂 I will look into that book, as my 11 year old is absolutely crazy about elephants.
I didn’t know that Keilee wants to go to Africa to work with animals. Good for her! Wow. Is she still doing the internship with the vet?
I hope you love your weekend and I can’t wait to hear all about it. We went on a little field trip this morning, followed by a 4H project. Tomorrow is church and more canning, lol. 🙂 Much love to you both, Lisa
I love her animal reports. I wonder if my boys would like typing on the computer? I love her art journal pages, too. I especially like the one with the skull and the cobweb. They are all so Halloweeny. Her painted pumpkins are great, too. You guys are so talented.
I love her pumpkins! I would spend all of my extra hours creating as well, but the kids stop me for lots of science and reading 🙂
Keilee is so artistic; those pumpkins are fantastic and I love seeing the samples from her smash journal every week.
It’s wonderful that even as Keilee grows she still retains some of the little girl fun. She’s only a child once needs to keep that as long as she can.
Have a great weekend and I’m looking forward to reading next week’s update.
I loved the pumpkins when I saw them on IG and I love them still! Actually, they inspired me to try painting pumpkins this year as we have always carved them.
I love her Smash journal–she is awesomely artistic!
Ahhh…time at home….I can’t wait for that…we came back from vacation to a crazy week of work for both Jason and i, but next week and from here on out looks like we can get into a regular schedule! Yay! I miss having a schedule!
Can I just say – I love your life! It looks like you are both having so much fun! And your dog is adorable. 🙂 The Smash Journal is so cool.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this beautiful fall weather! You’ve inspired me to paint pumpkins with my girls…
Looks like a great week. We also did three lessons in Algebra 1 this week and about half of it was painless. Thank you so much for your kind comments about Grace’s art. She truly loves creating. Have a great weekend.
Blessings
Diane
Keilee’s Smash journal pages are gorgeous, as are her pumpkins! Not surprising she is artistic with such an artistic mom! (I do love your photo collages :-))
I love that you still read aloud together. I read a book about inventors to my two today. I hope we still read aloud when they are older.
So happy you had such a great week. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too. Rather jealous of your weather!
Well, you all had a splendid week. I love the colorful pumpkins.
Blessings, Dawn
